First answer yourself this question: What do I want to make games for? If the answer is consoles, learn C++. It'll take a good 4 years of work to be proficient in today's world of 3D games. If the answer is websites, learn Flash. It'll cost you $600 (not exactly sure on that price) for the software but you could have a game finished in a month or two. If the answer is computers, then you have a lot of options. I find that Java is a great language to know because its object-orientated and has garbage dumping - two very important things. C++ does not have auto-garbage dumping (ex: you create a variable and then have to write code to destroy that variable, java does the destroying for you, leads to less bugs and little to no memory leaks). Also Java isn't overly complicated and there are tons of tutorials for it, I'd look into the book "Killer Game Programming for Java", it helped me alot. What I am learning now is C#, which is like Java and C++, but you can make games for the XBOX 360 with it. If you want to make a career out of game programming (not design), you should get a degree in computer science. For game design, you'll want to go to a special college that features game design. I know of Full Sail University, but its expensive. Check out gamasutra.com for career/business and gaming. They actually post all the jobs available from game companies too. Good luck.

It'll take a good 4 years of work to be proficient in today's universe of 3D games. If a answer is websites, sense Flash. It'll cost we $600 (not just certain upon which price) for a program though we could have a diversion accomplished in a month or two. If a answer is computers, afterwards we have a lot of options. we find which Java is a good denunciation to know since a object-orientated as well as has rubbish transfer – dual really critical things. C++ does not have auto-garbage transfer (ex: we emanate a non-static as well as afterwards have to write formula to fall short which variable, java does a destroying for you, leads to reduction bugs as well as small to no mental recall leaks). Also Java isn't overly difficult as well as there have been tons of tutorials for it, I'd demeanour in to a book "Killer Game Programming for Java", it helped me alot. What we am guidance right away is C#, which is similar to Java as well as C++, though we can have games for a XBOX 360 with it.
